
The scope of this project includes the replacement and rehabilitation of existing water and sewer mains along Kapiolani Boulevard, portions of Kamakee Street and Atkinson Drive; a new sewer force main on Kalakaua Avenue; and new curb ramps at key intersections for wheelchair acessiblity. To expedite the completion of the project and reduce the inconvenience to residents, business owners and commuters, work will occur simultaneously at several locations along the project area. Although construction activity is allowed 24 hours a day, seven days a week, crews will work to minimize noise and other disruptions to the extent possible. Work will stop for holidays and special events.

Traffic Advisory - Week of Nov. 10, 2008
Please be advised of the following modifications and lane closures, observe all construction traffic sings, expect delays, use alternative routes when possible, and drive with caution.
Contraflow Modifications on Kapiolani Boulevard
- Morning contraflow lanes (Ewa Bound) will end immediately after the McCully Street intersection. Regular traffic lanes will continue Ewa of the intersection (there will be no contraflow from McCully Street into town).
- Afternoon contraflow lanes (Koko Head) will not be installed.
Temporary Lane Closures
- Kapiolani Boulevard between Kalakaua and Ward avenues
- Keeaumoku Street as it approaches Kapiolani Boulevard
- Kona Iki Street as it approaches Kapiolani Boulevard
- Piikoi Street as it approaches Kapiolani Boulevard
- Pensacola Street as it approaches Kapiolani Boulevard
- Kaheka Street as it approaches Kapiolani Boulevard
- Mahukona Street as it approaches Kapiolani Boulevard
- Atkinson Drive as it approaches Kapiolani Boulevard
- Kalakaua Avenue between Makaloa Street and the Ala Wai Canal Bridge
Hours of Construction:
- Construction crews will be working both day and night shifts:
Night crews: Sunday through Friday, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Day crews: Monday through Saturday, 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
- On Kalakaua Avenue, crews will be working 24-hours a day except Saturday nights and Sunday days.
